INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR PHD APPLICATIONS
ACADEMIC YEAR 2013-2014
1. Announcement
Selection is in progress for international students applying for a position in a PhD Program for the Academic Year 2013/14.
The number of positions funded by the University will be established by the Collegiate Bodies of the University.
Applications will be evaluated by the Coordinator or by a Committee appointed by the Coordinator of the PhD Program and will admit candidates deemed suitable.
2. How to apply
International students wishing to apply for admission to a PhD Program for the Academic Year 2013/14 must submit an application starting from 24 April 2013 and no later than 22 May 2013 using the online form available at the following web address:

At the conclusion of the online application process, applicants must attach a PDF file with a maximum size of 15 MB, written in English and containing:
- A Curriculum Vitae with details of achieved degree(s), relevant examination results and/or results of degree requirements with assessment and/or grade (i.e., transcript details), and the date of degree achievement;
- A Research Proposal (maximum size of one page on A4 paper), also indicating the area of interest of the research;
- A List of Publications.
International students are also required to provide two recommendation forms & corresponding letters on university letterhead from two university professors either inItaly or abroad.

Please transmit the scan version of the letters by email directly to the coordinator of the PhD program to which you are applying within the strict deadline of15 June 2013.
(Please note, if you are applying to more than one program an original set of letters & forms must be sent to each of the Programs Coordinators). Please, indicate the name of the PhD Program you intend to participate with your full name when presenting the letters.
Candidates whose two letters of recommendation are not received will be excluded from selection.

Candidates will also be excluded from the selection process if they fail to disclose in their Curriculum Vitae relevant examination results and/or results of degree requirements with assessment and/or grade (i.e., transcript details), and the date of degree achievement by22 May 2013.
Candidates will also be excluded if they hold a degree which the Coordinator does not consider equivalent to an Italian degree or equivalent to the Program’s requirements.
Admission applications may be submitted also by international students who will be awarded an undergraduate degree by30 October 2013.
Candidates possessing a degree(s) not achieved in Italywill have to submit to the Administration of the PhD Office a Declaration of Relative Value (or “Dichiarazione di Valore Relativa al Titolo”) within three months of registration. The Declaration is obtainable from the Italian Embassy or Consulate in the country where the degree was completed.
Students who fail to present the Declaration of Relative Value within three months of registration will be excluded from the program.
3. Selection process and admissions
International candidates declared eligible by the Coordinator on the basis of their documents and curriculum will automatically proceed with the enrollment to the PhD program to which they applied, in case that they have been awarded a scholarship or other form of economic fund guaranteed and certified by an Italian or International Organization. The certification regarding the mentioned fund or grant must be sent to PhD Office by31 October 2013. Then, the formal certification will be submitted to a sample check by the Office in charge.
Candidates who cannot count on any scholarship or other form of economic fund guaranteed and certified by an Italian or International Organization will be contacted by the PhD coordinator (or their delegates) by email for fixing a Skype interview or an interview with the PhD Program Coordinator or his delegate/s.
Results will be announced by the PhD Office by email. Then, admitted candidates must communicate whether or not they accept the PhD position within a date fixed by the PhD Office.
In case of positive confirmation, students will be given more information on the registration procedure.
Certificates regarding the declared qualifications must be delivered to the PhD Office by the date of registration.
4. General rules
The PhD Programme lasts three years and may be extended to a fourth year (without grant), subject to approval by the School authorities.
At the end of the second and third year students will be evaluated by the Faculty for admission to the following years.
Please note that scholarships or grants awarded by our University are incompatible with other scholarships already received or in progress on all the Italian territory.
